Your Midheaven

Find your Midheaven

Enter your birth date, time and city: you get your Midheaven right away. If your time is approximate, we tell you the minute it changes sign.

Calculated with NASA data, accurate to a thousandth of a degree.

How we calculate it

Your local time is converted to universal time (the world reference time) using the historical time zone of your birthplace, daylight saving included. We then look for the sign that was highest in the sky at that moment. If your time is approximate, we redo the calculation across the whole window and find the exact minute of each sign change.

How it's calculated

Frequently asked questions

How do I find my Midheaven?

You need your birth date, time and place. The calculation finds the sign that was highest in the sky at that minute, in that place.

How is it different from the rising sign?

The rising sign is the one coming up in the east: how you arrive somewhere. The Midheaven is the one at the top of the sky: where you're headed. Both depend on your birth time, to the minute.

What if I don't know my birth time?

Without a time, there's no Midheaven: it changes sign roughly every two hours. With an approximate time, we tell you whether it changes sign within that window, and at what minute.
